2.      Brief history of the Department:

                In the department of Biochemistry the faculty members are actively engaged in teaching and research in chosen aspects of Biochemistry.  The areas of research interests are clinical biochemistry, enzymology, molecular biology, membrane biochemistry, plant molecular biology and chemistry of natural products.  The faculty members have successfully attracted research grants from various national and international funding agencies and established  independent laboratories.

Bioinforamtics Centre :(DST and UGC, New Delhi sponsored) M.Sc. syllabus         
Class of art Bioinformtics Centre has been established in the department harboring Hi-end server (AMD athlon - uptron - dual processor), clinents of 15 (P-IV), HD scanner, networking with LINUX station, Vedio conferencing facility etc., Many Bioinformtics softwares (Molecular modeling, Drug design, Molecular Dynamics) were licenced to this Centre. Broad band connection will serve the internet facilities to this centre. Students from many universities have been working for their M.Sc. Project work specially on Predicting the stsructure of Durg targetted Proteins from bacterial pathogens. In addition S.K. University official web site (www.skuniversity.org) has been designed and maintained by this Bioinformtics Centre.
