Year of Establishment of the Department  : 1985

A Brief history  of Department :

                The Department of Adult,Continuing Education & Extension was started in 1985 on a modest scale when Sri Krishnadeveraya University was a residential unitary university with no constituent or affiliated colleges. The department implemented the adult education programme sincerely laying emphasis on the education of the women and weaker sections. In implementing the programme, the components of awareness and functionality were given due importance.

                The department of adult, continuing education & extension is deeply committed to the UGC’s 8th plan move regarding involvement of university system in mass literacy movement which is the main thrust during 8th plain period. The department is acting as a catalytic agent between university and community by way of co-ordinating the literacy activities in different departments of university and affiliated colleges, providing them with the necessary material and techno – pedagogic inputs.
